Description:

Event EF2-114 was developed by Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation of the Pineapple (Ananas comosus) variety MD2 with two binary plasmid vectors with the same backbone. The intended effects of the modifications in EF2-114 pineapple are to alter the color of the fruit from yellow to pink through accumulation of lycopene in place of β-carotene, and to alter flower control. The developer was not able to determine the copy number or the integrity of the insertions via Southern blot and considers this technique to be unreliable for the identification of copy numbers for complex integration events. Molecular analysis indicated that the DNA inserts were stable through at least 4 generations. There is no information on the possible integration of vector backbone fragments.
