Description:
|
Maize event MIR604 has been genetically modified to be resistant to Western corn rootworm, Northern corn rootworm and Mexican corn rootworm.
Resistance is conferred by expression of the mCry3A gene in the corn plants.
A selectable marker gene, pmi, encodes phosphomannose isomerase and allows transformed corn cells to utilise carbon from phosphomannose media.
Southern analysis combined with sequencing and inheritance studies establishes integration of a
single T-DNA copy. The absence of the vector backbone in the MIR604 plants has been confirmed
by Southern analysis using probes that cover the entire backbone sequence of 5309 base pairs (bp).
