Description:
|
BT12 potato was generated by Agrobacterium tumefaciens-mediated transformation of the male-sterile potato variety Russet Burbank with the transformation vector PV-STBT02.
BT12 potatoes constitutively express the cry3A gene from Bacillus thuringiensis ssp. tenebrionis (CS-cry3A-BACTU) which confers a resistance to coleopteran pests and the nptII gene (CS-nptII-ECOLX) as a selection marker.
Southern Blot analyses indicate that BT12 potatoes contain one T-DNA copy inserted at a single site. The integrity of the T-DNA was maintained and no sequences outside the borders of the T-DNA were detected.
