Country: EU
Applicant: Monsanto Europe
Legislation: Regulation (EC) No 1829/2003
Comment: Application on renewal of existing food additives produced from this GMO and feed materials and feed additives produced from this GMO. Food additives, feed materials and feed additives produced from MON863 x NK603 were lawfully placed on the EU market before the date of entry into force of Regulation (EC) No. 1829/2003. After the date of entry into force of this Regulation, these products were notified to the European Commission according to Art. 8(1)(b) and Art. 20(1)(b) of that Regulation. The applicant withdrew this application since the scope of this application is included in the authorisation of EFSA-GMO-UK-2004-06, issued under EU Commission decision 2010/141/EU of 2 March 2010. However, on 29 June 2015, the applicant asked the Commission to put an end to all the authorisations granted by the Commission to products containing, consisting or produced from genetically modified maize MON 863, as single event and in stacked events, following a commercial decision of the company not to market these products anymore in the EU. Consequently, this GMO is not authorised for GM food and feed in the EU.
